Sandra Shih-Yuan Chiu is a performer, choreographer and Pilates instructor who currently lives and works in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Sandra has presented her choreographic work in the United States, Israel and Taiwan. She was the principal dancer of Laura Gorenstein Miller’s Helios Dance Theater and taught at School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) as a full-time Dance Faculty in subjects of modern technique, movement improvisation and composition. Sandra believes in the harmony of the mind, heart, body and motion. She received her Pilates certification from Long Beach Dance Conditioning under Marie-José Blom and has been teaching Pilates since 2006.

Sandra enjoys observing movements of both people and nature: gestures from people talking or walking, clouds moving across the sky, or vehicles shifting slowly in a traffic jam. She loves exploring various forms of artistic expression and applying her dance experience into her works. Sandra is a founding member of Square Root Collective and co-founder of Square Root Productions.
